The first of two whimsical pieces created for an ice cream ad campaign required a great deal of image manipulation. For the head, I started with a simple line drawing of the cow's head. The color of the weathered copper sheeting of the statue had to be matched as well as the pattern of the weathering on the copper. Once the head and ice cream cone were in place, the lighting effects of these new elements had to be exactly matched to the statue.

The second piece required replacing the sky in both images, using photo filters to alter the image tones and manipulating the bottom image to make room to accommodate the cone. Finally, pixel manipulation had to be employed to create the smiles on the presidents' faces. The original image used is on the right.

The third piece was created for an Irish entertainer, Danny O'Flaherty. The purpose of the piece was to communicate Danny's spirituality and deep love for his native Ireland.

Image manipulation doesn't have to be complex. It can simply consist of improving a vacation photograph of a pretty garden gate by removing an ugly sign on the gate post.

Finally, the graphic effects that can be created and applied to type transform the plain text into pieces of art which communicate much more meaning than the words alone.
